Home Sweet Texas Home (Changes)

So this weekend we switched the dining and living rooms around and painted the living room. I haven't decided if I want to paint the dining room or what color. So that is still white but it looks SO different. I LOVE it now. It feels SO much bigger!!! Don't mind my hubs playing his words with friends and his converse thrown in the floor. ;) I still have some more to finish it but I had to share with all of you! Hope you like!!

Military Spouse Friday Fill-In (a day late)

If you were a famous movie star, what types of movies would you star in?
I would want to star in a romantic comedy. Like Bride Wars, 27 Dresses, Valentines Day

What is a vacation you would like to take if money were no object?
I would travel ALL over Europe, Hawaii is always amazing, or Fiji.

Did you have pets growing up? Now?
Yes, I had a black lab named Jake until I was about 5. Then about 9, I got another black lab Bubba who has been my baby since. My grandpa found Gucci in his alley my first year of college so I gained another black lab. So Bubba & Gucci still live with my parents in California. I just adore them!

I got my Liberty 2 years ago before Zack deployed and I LOVE her lots. We adopted Duke last summer and added to our family. They are our babies.

What do you do for exercise?
I like to go for walks with my dogs when the weather is nice. Ride my new bike.

I used to work out at the gym and box but haven't since I moved here. I'm going to have to get back at it. The Texas sweet tea and Bush's chicken is great on the lips not on the hips. ;)

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received as a MilSpouse?
"Trust everything will be ok." It is a simple statement but really hard to do but it's true. However, it's all we can do when the love of our lives are around the globe where IED's are blasting and people are shooting at them.

Psalm 17:6

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.

Our bathroom

So basically I'm in love. I used all the same stuff but it totally pops more on the blue walls!

It looks more the bottom picture color. The lighting isn't so great but I think it is darling in person!

Glam Bathroom

Happy Tuesday!

I have been rearranging and doing things in the house for the last week or so and these white walls are just not working for me anymore. I never thought Zack would go for painting since it's military housing and we will have to paint it white again in 15months but he did! So we now have a tiffany blue bathroom! I have been painting all morning and I just love it.

In case you can't picture it, it looks like this...

Pictures of our tiffanys glam bathroom to come!

Home

The gold key picture I have had my eye on for quite some time at Hobby Lobby but didn't want to pay the full price. Yesterday I found it in the 66% off aisle! $13 was a perfect price to me! I think it fits perfect on the picture wall. I painted some of the frames and distressed them. I love how it turned out.

This is our bedroom. I think its my favorite room in the house. Our bed is amazing(thank you husband) and our bedding was a gift from my parents. All the decor was hobby lobby clearance. The table is the latest addition to the room also hobby lobby clearance. Oh how I love that store. Nothing better than a good deal. I want to keep buying little things i find on clearance so we will have them when we move home! Can't wait.

Sunday Fun Day

This weekend is flying by without my hubby. I wish he didn't have to work all weekend and then start the work week so early. It is a bummer. Oh well...
I'm making my hubby's favorite meal for dinner. Lasagna! I've never made it so I'm a little nervous but he is so excited. I'm going to attempt tiramisu also. We shall see!! Hopefully a tasty dinner and happy hubby!

Army

After basically 2 weeks in the field my hubby came back today. He got back to his company this morning but was only able to leave for 20 minutes before going back and is still not home. This is so annoying. I can't comprehend why the Army doesn't consider the guys and their exhaustion or the spouses/families involved. Oh the army life. I'm not a fan today.

Military Spouse Friday Fill-In -- Part 2

1.What are you looking forward to most in 2011?
A WHOLE year with my hubby. No 2 state living, no deployment just us in Ft. Hood, Texas! Also, hopefully adding to our family!

2.What is something random you do on a boring night when your significant other is away?
Nothing too random...cook, clean, relax and catch up with my friends.

3.What has been your greatest adventure as a MilSpouse?
Moving to Texas!!!!! Best move ever!

4.What is the ugliest fashion trend you ever bought into?
Probably a tie between the ghetto clothes phase and the skater clothes phase. I definitely was marching to my own (off beat) drum.

5.What was the high point of last month?
Christmas in California. We started out at Pebble Beach, and seeing how happy it made my hubby made it so amazing. Seeing everyone was amazing. We were exhausted from constantly going it was nice to see family!

Military Spouse Friday Fill-In

As I have added fellow military wives to my blog,
I have decided to join in to some of their traditions.
So let the Friday fill-in begin...

1.What do you usually want to know about someone when meeting them for the first time?
Where they are from and name.

2.Would you rather know everything about your spouse, or be regularly surprised?
Both. We both know each other pretty much backwards and forwards but sometimes he surprises me. I like it all. He is the best.

3.If you could live in one city for the rest of your life, where would you live?
Hmm hard choice. I think Pismo/Avila or Bakersfield, CA.  Pismo and Avila are both the best. We got married there, relaxed there and really enjoy being there. An Bakersfield will always be home so that is most likely it for us. I hope to raise our kids in Bakersfield and retire in one of our coastal favorites.

4.When you go out of town, what one material thing do you ALWAYS take?
Phone. I never leave it. I am getting better about shutting it off and enjoying my better 1/2 but I have separation anxiety from it. As though my life never functioned without an iphone. Ridiculous I know.

5.Using no more than 10 nouns, and ONLY nouns, describe yourself.
Wife, Dog-Mom, Friend, California, Blogger, Photo loving, Aspiring chef. That is harder than it sounds!

I got a new ride...with 2 wheels

I got a new bike! My parents told me they would get me a bike for my birthday last year but I never fully decided which one I wanted. Well I finally decided and they ordered it. I just tracked it and it will be here tomorrow!! I cannot wait!!!!!!!! I will post pictures of my darling cruiser as soon as it gets here and all put together!

Keep Calm...Carry On

Seems like I always have something to do. Between a husband, a home, a job, a fish, 2 dogs, endless laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. etc. etc. I feel like I never have a free moment. Not to mention all of the things weighing on my mind and heart lately. It just feels so overwhelming at times. My little icon caught my eye today Keep Calm, Carry On. I have seen it quite a few times but today it made me stop for a second and do just that..keep calm. Clean laundry can pile up on the dryer still waiting to be folded and dishes can stay clean in the dishwasher but I am calm and happy that I have everything I need. I am making a vow to myself to keep calm and focus on the things that really matter. I think today is the perfect day to go on a walk with my pups and enjoy a nice Texas day.

Today is the day to decide to...

Zack's Return Home Anniversary

January 15, 2010
Zack's return from Iraq

Today marks one year since my hubby came back from Iraq.  I cannot believe how fast this year has gone. SO much has changed and happened in the last 365 days it is truly insane. We have had some of the best and worst times in our life this year but we always seem to make it through. We have grown so much closer together this year, especially the last 6 months. I am so grateful for him sticking by my side through it all. We are both thankful for God's hand on our life because without HIM we would never have made it here. I am so very blessed to be married to my very best friend, better half and hero. Words aren't enough to explain how proud I am of him and all of his accomplishments and determination. I cant wait to see where life is going to take him. Today is a day to celebrate him!

Happy one year back on US soil baby! Many many more to come!
I love you more than you will ever know!

This morning before Zack left for the field.

Today Zack left for the field for 2 weeks. He is supposed to get the weekend off to rest and shower so hopefully that happens. I spent all of 2009 away from him and I have gotten really spoiled being with him so much that I hate these field exercises. He leaves for all of March for training in California so I am hoping to spend some of that time working and seeing some friends and family in California. We shall see how it all works out. It is really cold right now so my prayers are with my hubby to stay safe, dry, warm and come home soon!

Texas Life

This morning I was driving to the always amazing Starbucks and getting my day going and I looked up to see the most beautiful sky. It was just a reminder of the clean air Im breathing and the great place we live. I frequently miss California. ALL of our family is there, so many of our memories and tons of great places however Texas is right where God wants us. It took me so long to want to move here that I thought I would hate it, and in the beginning I did; but now I see how much this place has changed my life. Texas has brought some of the MOST AMAZING people in my life. I am SO blessed and SO thankful for all God has done in the last year and for bringing Zack here and then me.

I just want to say to my Texas/Army friends, Thank You. Thank you for being such big parts of our lives. We truly are blessed to call you friends and look forward to life long friendships with all of you.
